NIHON MECCS's Commitment to New Challenges for Environmental Management
We work to reduce our own environmental impact and striving to enhance the environmental performance of our works and services.
As a group of professionals involved in buildings and facilities, we at NIHON MECCS are committed to fulfilling our responsibility to the global environment. In particular, to realize a carbon-neutral society, as a member of the NTT Group, we will accelerate the low-carbonization and decarbonization of our company, works, and services. In preparation for the upcoming circular economy, we will promote low emission and recycling-oriented businesses and thoroughly implement the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) throughout the company. We will promote the development of environmental audits and environmental education systems to ensure the execution of these activities.

Accelerating Decarbonization Aligned with Group Strategy

The Japanese government has also set a goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2050, and is promoting initiatives that transcend the boundaries between industry, government, and academia. In particular, companies are strongly expected to set group-wide decarbonization targets and deploy decarbonization throughout their value chains. In response, companies are increasingly setting group-wide decarbonization targets and building measures tailored to the characteristics of their operations.
The full-scale operation of a decarbonization strategy aligned with the Group
Acceleration of activities in line with NTT Group's "Environmental Energy Vision"
NTT Urban Solutions Group, of which NTT Facilities is the core company, is currently ambitiously promoting contributions to the carbon neutralization of society in line with NTT Group's "Environmental Energy Vision". In light of this, the NIHON MECCS has also begun full-scale operation of its decarbonization strategy. The main pillars of the strategy are "carbon neutrality by 2040," "100% renewable energy use by 2030," and "100% EVs in the company owned viehcle by 2030. To achieve these goals, we have begun to strengthen measures such as purchasing renewable energy certificates for tenant buildings and converting company vehicles to EVs, in addition to our existing emphasis on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and purchasing renewable energy for our own buildings. In fiscal year 2022, the initial phase of the initiative, we identified issues that needed to be addressed in order to achieve our goals, and began implementing measures in stages. In the future, the results of these efforts will be incorporated into the environmental services and solutions provided by NIHON MECCS, and at the same time, we will work to update our targets to take into account the "Environmental Impact Reduction Targets (announced in December 2022)" newly established by the NTT Urban Solutions Group.
